Pixel art consists of a type of digital art in which the image is created at the pixel level. It uses faster graphics software and it is certainly one of the first ever developed types of digital art. People are very likely to have enjoyed some sort of pixel art even though they might be unaware of it. For instance, most of the computer and video games were based on pixel art and moreover, nowadays phone games are also based on the same technique.
The term is relatively old and it had been published by Adele Goldberg and Robert Flegal back in 1982. However, the technique itself was already existent at that time and it is thought to have been developed in the early 1970s. Pixel art can be created with the help of various methods. The basics of pixel art start with drawings that are referred to as line art, and which are the very foundation of the item that one intends to draw. It can be a character, a building or anything else in one’s own imagination. Commonly, most pixel artists choose to save their pixel art in GIF or PNG files and they are least likely to save it in a JPEG format due to the lossy compression that comes with this type of files.
