Programs for Digital Art
The traditional painting, graphic arts or sculpture were replaced by the digital art époque with programs like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Corel, Freehand or programs exclusively dedicated to graphics and 3D modeling, such as Studio Max, Maya or 3D Max. So, images that once seemed impossible became possible in a physical format with digital techniques in a 3D software or a drawing program.
Digital art is widely used in commercials and movies, to achieve special effects, but also in various scientific projects on digital and interactive space and soon even in art schools. For example, MIT Media Lab propose projects with theme of opening communication and knowledge through digital networks, aiming to expand the idea to design action plans, emotional and biological interfaces to be used in an expressive way, as art.
Digital art projects are quite complex and are not easily understandable. For example, a project by an artist from MIT is an interactive installation that explores the relationship between a spectator and a wall on which are projected images, using graphic software and a sensor system that captures the distance.
The visual information projected on the wall changes with the proximity of its spectators. As the viewer is closer, the information is divided into small pieces, taking an image and increasing it in high details. When the viewer moves away, the information alters and becomes less clear. The idea is that each viewer has his own artwork.
Digital art is considered to have revolutionized the architecture world also. Using the appropriate and complex design programs and techniques, the process of creation and even imagination becomes much easier and faster.
